After Moscow several countries announced, according to “tradition”, that they will consider not to participate in the contest 2010. EBU has now confirmed that 39 countries are in. Good enough keeping in mind that Oslo is one of the most expensive cities in the world! But I feel a bit sad that Hungary has withdrawn their participation. Same with Czech Republic, Montenegro and micro-country Andorra. Georgia is back in the game. Last year the Georgian song was too political with anti-Putin lyrics and instead of changing it the decided to refrain from Moscow. 
The participating record is from 2008, Belgrade, with 43 countries.
The biggest change in the voting procedure is the juries will have a 50% influence on the results also in the semi-finals and not only the final as last year.
The Big Four (Germany, France, UK and Spain) are qualified directly to the final – same procedure as every year!
Efter Moskva i maj så var det ett flertal länder som ”traditionsenligt” gick ut och sa att de noga skulle överväga sitt deltagande I tävlingen 2010. EBU har nu bekräftat att 39 länder deltar och det är good enough med tanke på att Oslo är en av världens dyraste städer. Jag måste medge att jag är ledsen att Ungern uteblir. Det gäller även Tjeckien, Montenegro och mikrolandet Andorra. Georgien är tillbaka i leken. Förra året var Georgiens sång för politisk med sin anti-Putin text och istället för att ändra på lyriken så valde man att avstå helt. Rekordet är från 2008 i Belgrad då 43 länder deltog.
Den största förändringen i röstningsproceduren är att jury får inflytande även i semifinalerna och inte bara i finalen. The Big Four (Tyskland, Frankrike, Spanien, Storbritannien) är direktkvalificerade för finalen – same procedure as every year!
